Black History Month was established by historian Carter G. Woodson in February 1926 as a week-long celebration to coincide with the birthdays of Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln (Learn more at the Britannica website). Today, we take this month to remember and celebrate the heritage, history, and achievements of African Americans past and present.
