Winter Showers Bring Spring Flowers

by Cerro Coso Library on 2024-03-01T08:15:00-08:00 in Library, Science | 0 Comments

They say that Aprils showers bring May flowers, but in the desert, winter storms often bring flowers early!

If you live locally, spring is a great time to check out the great outdoors. It's not too hot yet, but the weather can change quickly, so check the forecast before you go! This year, atmospheric rivers have created a lake in Death Valley, and flowers are beginning to pop up throughout the Indian Wells Valley.

If you're curious about the flora and fauna you might encounter along the way, try downloading the Seek app by iNaturalist, which uses your phone camera to identify flowers, plants, bugs, animals, and more!

If you're more old-school and prefer to read up before you go, check out some of our library books to help you plan your trip!
