April was established as Diversity Month in 2004 as a time to celebrates our differences as well as our similarities. It's a great time to explore different cultures and traditions, and to learn how to recognize our own unconscious biases.
To celebrate the diversity of Cerro Coso students and employees, the library has created an assortment of resource guides for different groups, and we hope that you will help us build on them! If you have any suggestions or recommendations of local and national resources that others might find useful, please email us!
If you have a chance, also stop by the Cerro Coso library in Ridgecrest to check out our permanent club displays, featuring books for the Umoja Club, the Rainbow Club, and Veteran Club, as well as our collection of non-English language resources. You can find out more about these clubs and available resources on our Cerro Coso Clubs Resources guide.
Finally, don't forget to stop by the library starting the last week in April - not only will we be hosting our infamous Coffee and Donuts event, but we'll be collaborating with the Outreach department and our LGBTQ+ program to host "CC Pride" - a week-long Pride event where we hope you'll take a break from studying for finals and join us for snacks, beverages, stress relievers, and a few tidbits of LGBTQ+ history.
We hope to see you there!
