If you've seen the notice on the main library page, you'll know that the Cerro Coso library closes between semesters. What do we do during that time? Sometimes we use that time to take our vacations or to do work among the shelves that we can't get done when we're at the circulation desk.
This year, we had the opportuntiy during our closure to spend several days not only visiting each of the learning resource centers at each of our Cerro Coso campuses (Bishop, Mammoth, and Tehachapi), but also stopping by the Bakersfield College and Porterville College libraries - the two other main colleges in our district! At every location, we were able to meet with the staff who works there and share ideas to improve our libraries and better serve our students.

Over the summer, we are bringing in some new furniture pieces. Seeing the ways in which these other libraries in our district are arranging hangout spots and using technology in their study spaces has got us inspired to keep going! Keep an eye out at a Cerro Coso campus near you to find out what's in store, and if you have any suggestions about things you would like to see at the library, let us know! (Sadly, our requests for kitten checkouts have still not been approved.)
If you have stopped by the LRC at any of the Cerro Coso sites, you may have noticed a cabinet full of textbooks. These are current reserve textbooks for your classes that are available for your use! Ask a member of the college staff to open the cabinet, and you will be able to use any textbook as long as you're in the LRC. If the book you need isn't there, we also have many Online Textbooks. We hope you enjoy these resources!
