This paper examines the message of Muslim masculinities conveyed in the Qur’an - the sacred text that is regarded by Muslims as the word of God and as the highest authority for moral guidance. The content analysis of the Qur’an reveals at least five salient character traits that may be taken as prescriptions of masculinities. These traits are not only overlapping but are also contradictory, depending on the institutional context in which the people are acting, as well as their religious status.

Religious support and psychological well-being: gender differences among religious Jewish Israelis The moderating effect of gender on the relation between religious support and well-being was examined using 334 religious Jewish men and women in Israel. Specifically, social support, religious support (Religious Leader Support (RLS), Religious Community Support (RCS), and G-d Support (GS)), anxiety, and life satisfaction were assessed. All support measures were significantly associated with less anxiety and more life satisfaction.
The virtuous woman and the holy nation: Femininity in the context of Pentecostal Christianity in Vanuatu In this paper I connect an anthropology of Christianity to an anthropology of the body and an anthropology of the nation. I try to achieve this by looking at changing notions of femininity in the Pentecostal context of Vanuatu. In the first part of the paper I look at the ways in which Pentecostal Christianity change the meaning of gender, whereas in the second part of the paper I look at how this new form of gendered meaning has relevance for our understanding of wider social contexts.

Exploring College Students’ Sexual and Reproductive Health Knowledge and Awareness of Sexual and Reproductive Health Services in Relation to Their Gender and Religiosity These findings suggest that higher rates of religious attendance among Catholic, Protestant, and Evangelical women pose a risk for lower SRH knowledge. The results suggest the need for SRH outreach and educational materials targeting men in general, who had lower levels of SRH knowledge and awareness of SRH services overall, and taking religiosity into account, particularly with regard to women.
Women, Property Rights, and Islam Examining developing and Muslim majority countries, we find that patriarchal norms, more so than religion, constitute the main barrier to gender equality. Further, we find that core rights like women's access to education and, to a lesser degree, norms-building by women's rights groups best explain where women enjoy effective property rights.
