Fall is in the air (or, if you live in Ridgecrest, the “W” word) and that means plenty of community events are coming our way. We have Penny Wars donation buckets at the library circulation desk to support the Relay for Life on October 6-7, so bring in all your loose change to help students, staff, classified or admins win bragging rights for the year. On October 19-21, the Desert Empire Fair also breezes into Ridgecrest, so stop by the Cerro Coso booth to say hello!
Want to squeeze in some reading between all those activities? Whether you are looking for books for midterm essays, LGBT History Month, Halloween, or pumpkin spice lattes, we’ve got you covered (well, maybe not the lattes, but you get the idea). It turns out, there are plenty of good reasons to set aside a little time each day to read, including mental stimulation, stress reduction, and, of course, increased knowledge. At the library, these benefits are 100% free.
